WE MOURN THE PASSING OF A BELOVED OLD FRIEND
Good friends of mine from Killarney who live in London were in touch with me to let me know of the death of a very special friend to all of us-
We mourn the passing of our beloved old friend COMMON SENSE.
As you will Know, Common Sense has been with us for very many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since the birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, maybe, it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by single, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in charge) His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but over bearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate: a second year student suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch and a teacher fined for reprimanding an unrly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they failed to do themselves such as disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer a band-aid asprin or sun cream to a student put could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the ten commandments became countraband: churches became businesses and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took an awful beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was extremely hot. She spilled a little on her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his loving parents Truth and Trust and his wife Discretion. He also lost a daughter Responsibility and a son Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers. I know my rights, Someone else is to blame and I'm a victim. Very few attended the funeral because so few relised he was gone. If you still remember Common Sense please pass this on. Don't do what the vast majority do which is nothing. Let's keep the memory of Common Sense alive!

A must see play
"Tom Crean Antarctic Explorer" is the story about Crean's adventures in the Antarctic under Captain Scott (twice) and finally under Shackleton. A one man play written and performed by Aiden Dooley, an actor who considers himself more of a story teller. In this play Dooley transport the audience back to the Antarctic of the 1900's with his brilliant take on Tom Crean the adventurous Kerry man.
